My kind of town. . . .

Arrive in Chicago

Cloud Gate or the Bean!

Cloud Gate or the Bean!

A great start, enjoying the legendary hospitality of Manuel and Chala on Chicagos Magnificent Mile in a town where to be a Pratt is to command repect. :o)
We overlook Lake Michegan from our palatial appt. Yesterday we were treated to a downtown tour before exploring the Art Institute. After two hours we decided to return later in the week to do justice to all the exhibits here. The Millenium Park boasts an Anish Kapoor - Cloud Gate, known locally as The Bean - and several other world class sculptures like toys in a playground where the locals can ice skate, and walk in the winter sunshine. Feeling a bit jet lagged we walked the Magnificent Mile (Michegan Ave) crossing the ice packed river to take a siesta before dining out in North Shore (aka boytown for obvious reasons!!).
Will post photos tomorrow. First impressions - Chicago certainly has a lot more to offer than we had imagined

Get ready

Watch this space

OK, we're counting the days to departure. Watch for our first posting shortly after January 16. First stop Chicago, assuming we can get out of all the snow in UK. :o)
